EVEN messier than usual

The other night I pulled out some sprays and stencils and some VERY scrap paper (key, because there was no pressure to make it look good) (which is good because it doesn't)  and started to play.

Pretty soon I got lost in the colours and patterns and next thing you know, it was way past my bedtime. I LOVE when that happens.

And I could tell I had a good time, because when I was done, my hands looked like this:

And my hair looked like THIS:  (Avert your eyes now if you're squeamish.)

Even though I didn't make anything great, I still had a lot of fun making a big mess.  I highly recommend cutting loose once in a while when nobody's looking.

And now I'm gonna go kick some ass on this long weekend.  Who's with me?

DRAWSOME!

Hey, do you guys play Draw Something?  I have it on my iPhone but I'm sure you can get it on your iPad, or whatever platform you prefer.  It is So. Much. Fun.

Usually my drawings are all cockeyed stick people trying to demonstrate an action or an item ("harp", anyone?) but a couple of weeks ago I got all inspired and started showing off.  I admit, I kinda cheated... I opened a browser window and googled "Pluto" so I had a model to follow.  I just toggled back and forth until I had drawn a reasonable facsimile, and voila!!

Oh, and if you haven't played before, don't laugh too much at my shaky lines... you have to draw with your fingertip on your wee little phone screen, so it's tough to get it very precise.

If you play enough rounds, you can earn coins to get new colours.  OMG ISN'T THAT EXCITING?!  If you want to go a few rounds, hit me up: 12345shelley.  I need to build my portfolio so I need more examples of my wor..... BAHAHAHAHAAAAAA!  Okay, I can't say that with a straight face.  It's just for fun.

Wow, that was a lot of talking just about a game.  I ... I should stop now.

Bye!

Just a doodle

I figured something out and I was pretty excited about it - so I started doodling in my regular journal.  This isn't even an art journal, just the plain old paper I write on every day.  I used Copic markers, so it went right through the paper, and now the back looks cool too.  I debated covering it up with some other kind of paper so I could still use that side of the page, but decided nope, it's staying.

But who knows.  I'm notoriously fickle.  I could change my mind AT ANY MOMENT.

Okay, I better go.  Can't make art if I'm sitting here staring at the screen, right?  Right.

Kbye.

Ever have one of those days?

I don't - not often, anyway... but today is definitely one of those days.  Don't worry, it never lasts long.  In fact, doodling like this and getting really involved in the lettering has already lifted my mood quite a bit.  I MADE ART TODAY!!!

Happy colours

WOW, it's summer already!!  I've been trying to keep making art but things like this are taking away some of my attention:

We have two dozen chickens that are almost six weeks old.  It's not that they're high-maintenance, just that they're rather hypnotizing.  They're pretty friendly, for chickens, and they have big personalities.  The kids and I have been spending more time than we need to with them, just watching their behaviour and how much they're enjoying their new coop.  We should be collecting fresh eggs within a couple of months!

I've worked on a few journal pages here and there.  Yesterday I brought a bag of fun stuff to my parents' and worked on a couple of pages while we all visited together.  The ones that I'm showing you here are started but definitely need some more work.  But so far they're working out so I thought I would share them, to let you know that I'm still alive and still making art!

I'll tell you more about these pages as they develop.  In the meantime I hope you're all making stuff too. I'm going to see what other trouble I can get into this week - don't worry, I'll report back!
